Our festival was born in 2008 with the name of Botticino Jazz, organized by artistic director Luigi Settala and the Municipality of Botticino (little town in Lombardy, northern Italy). The first edition is kept to the Theatre Lucia in Botticino from October 27 to 29, 2008, recording full house during three evenings with Corrado Guarino Quartet, Amiri Baraka Quartet, Dave Burrell with Leena Conquest and Lewis Barnes, the quartet of Sabir Mateen with William Parker, Hamid Drake and Corey Wilkes, Fabrizio Puglisi and Hamid Drake duo and William Parker's Ensemble "The inside songs of Curtis Mayfield". The great success of the initiative is testified from the presence of numerous foreign public and thrilled reviews by Italian and European press. In the second edition the festival assumes the denomination Crosscurrent (Botticino Jazz II) and it is still kept to the Theatre Lucia of Botticino from 30 to 31 October 2009. During the festival, that slightly record an inferior affluence compared to 2008, played Anthony Davis solo, James Emery solo, Anthony Davis "Episteme" Quintet, Mary Halvorson, Jessica Pavone and Taylor Ho Bynum trio, the band Dinamitri Jazz Folklore and James Emery Quartet. The prestigious presence of Anthony Davis and James Emery, not so famous to the great public but of extreme interest for diehard jazz enthusiasts, guaranteed the collaboration with Italian national radio RAI Radio 3 that broadcasted live Anthony Davis Quintet. The choices of the artistic director Luigi Settala were rewarded by delighted reviews and growing international interest, testified from the presence of European press and radio broadcasting in Great Britain, Finland and the Netherlands. In the course of 2010, changed conditions of the relationship with the Municipality of Botticino, advise to the cultural Association Crosscurrent to broke the partnership and to reorganize its own activity with the primary objective to continue in the consolidation of the festival's prestige. Although the third edition has not seen the light in 2010, three important publishing initiatives involved Crosscurrent, increasing its international reputation: 1. Book house Auditorium has published the volume by Marcello Lorrai "William Parker. Conversazioni sul jazz", realized thanks to photographic material contribution by our official collaborator Luciano Rosetti; 2. Prestigious New York record company AUM Fidelity has published an anthology of William Parker's Ensemble entitled "I plan to sta

what a voice! great singer!
Who is the British tool?
Morreu 15 dias após essa entrevista.
What a treasure. ❤
Sanborn's solo with The Pharoah on Thimbi is supreme. Transcendent!
SRV... Absolutly magnifico!!!
While teaching at Berklee College of Music in Boston, professor and bassist Steve had his graduate students transcribe the most common “Jazz Standard”tunes and the lead sheets were bound and sold to the students as class notes and became the first “Fake Book” that turned into the Real Book vol 😍5 that sits on my piano today and provides the tune structure including song melody 🎶 , melody 🎼 (need an icon for a G7 or B7 for Carla Bley😂 compositions “Lawns” / “Healing Power” respectively. Intro, Verse, Chorus, Melody and Chord notes make it much simpler to perform an unfamiliar called tune AKA “request” from the crowd, promoter, or music contractor. For more information listen to the entire Blue Note catalog (It will take a lifetime) and the Electra Musician catalog. . . . “ If music be the food of love play on . . . “ - William Shakin’ Shakespeare Sincerely Yours😎, Rob Swofford 1966 - ♾
Great show!
Camel Islands. For the next generation to try to understand.
Great show buf that final performance by Bley, Swallow, and the others was magical.
These shows are historical and the variety of fantastic talent are everlasting and extraordinary!
Great musicians in the band! Nobody mentions him (not even in the above notes) but the amazing bass player here is TOM BARNEY (not Marcus Miller). A great eclectic bass player, one of my favorites.

Unfortunately these superb TV programmes are not possible anymore...
Dude broke a bass string and kept on going to the next song. That's a pro.
Poor David Sanborn, trying to be a comedic foil for Jools, but humour was _completely_ out of his wheelhouse. :^/
This show only lasted 2 seasons because it was great and ahead of its time! They suppressed it! All these episodes should be restored as a tribute to the music of David Sanborn, nuff said 🎷🎺🥁🎹🎸🎼🎵🎶🔥♥️
I love in the super energetic last song section, they were like.... Okay now Leonard.. go sit over there.🤣 He was probably happy they said that, though it was still really funny. You got to love Leonard man, The only person i've ever seen that is somewhat similar to me.
One thing I have noticed watching several of the Night Music episodes is the absolute joy that Dave Sanborn shows. What a delight to play with so many different great musicians every week.
Jools is such a ham, but he was TV ready from his work hosting The Tube. I love Betty Carter.
does the horse at 40:40 sound just like larry david or am i tripping? he would have been working for SNL around this time i think
Damn that band was hot
Ahhhhhh man post all of this please
These shows are epic! All the musicians are extraordinary. Give some special love to the great Omar Hakim on drums; there is nothing that he cannot play!
Some networks should pick this up and show the reruns. RIP Mr David Alto sax Sanborn
I love how Jools just goes off, clearly not sticking to a word for word script. The yanks look so confused.
Se os festivais voltarem. Vão ter que aumentar as confecçoēs de biquines e maios. Vai rolar bum bum. Vai baixar até em baixo. Vai mexer e remexer. E aquilo que ficou escrito nas estrelas. Será apagado. E a última voz do Brasil.
Gabriel porfirio

They are. Both gone to be with Jesus
It doesn't get more spiritual than Roland and Pharrao . Van Dyke Parks is the cream.
22:22 Awesome drum intro
This whole series, Night Music, shows the power of music and these guys cook.
An amazing lineup. Great to see Sanborn trade licks with Rollins.
11:28 So does he have a boost somewhere near his volume knob? That feedback just came, it didn't build up to that squeal and it didn't look like he strummed it.
29:54 The two guitar solo thing has never worked. It always takes away from the articulation that makes great players great. Do you remember this era of guitar? The wah pedal was a crutch and sax players still did solos. This is just after Slash's solo on Welcome to the Jungle which brought the wah back (Metallica was well known but not the behemoth it is today). Keyboard was playing drums during the intro !!! Loved these days.
great program
Great Show. Curtis' classics, with this band! Never seen David Lindley smile so much, and then his James Stewart impression! And back to Curtis. Had forgotten or missed Taylor Dane, and what a fine discovery here.
Fantastic. Thanks for posting this.
I really can't remember ever seeing the Night Music program back in the day. I'm blessed to witness this massive greatness and talent. God bless all of them ‼️💯😇😁👍🏼
That closing version of "Put a Little Love In Your Heart", sung by Al Green with all rhe diverse performers from this show backing him, should be the Democratic Party theme song in the year of'24, when the fear and hate, and lies and misrepresentations of the Republican Party are so horrid.
I wish there was a show like this these days. Featuring jazz artists with a few pop acts thrown in. That's what's really missing from all the streaming services--a cool, hip music show.
And now David
This is the most diverse and fantastic 45 minute music TV program that I've seen. Really wonderful performances and great videos of The Platters and Roland Kirk and Stevie Ray's "Some of my favorite things"... and Pharoah!
magic magic
Little Feat!
stormy monday...man oh man..love it

mmm...God bless the child...wow ..pure magic man
